The History Of Manor Real Estate

Manor was initially developed by James B. Manor and former Governor Sam Houston, two settlers looking for a quiet refuge in the early 1800's. The first home in Manor was a log cabin, and a couple frame homes were built shortly thereafter. A number of prominent families followed suit and the region began to blossom. As the population increased, so did the town, until the community was fully formed in 1872. Today, Manor is a vibrant and thriving community with small town values and a big heart.

Manor has also hosted many movie productions, including Johnny Depp's What's Eating Gilbert Grape. The water tower climbed by Leonardo DiCaprio's character, an autistic boy, is currently a downtown landmark, although it's no longer in use.
